Big weekend of success for Offaly martial arts fighters

There were great celebrations for the team at Éire Grapple, Spollenstown, Tullamore following a hugely successful outing at Virtus 5 in Omagh last weekend, where they recorded five wins from seven fights.

Leading the charge was Artem Korop, who recently joined the club after relocating from Ukraine to Tullamore. Competing in a catchweight novice bout, Korop made an immediate impact, securing a dominant first-round finish.

Tristan Walsh, Tullamore, also enjoyed a memorable night on his MMA debut, competing in a novice bantamweight contest. Walsh showed great composure and skill to claim victory in his first appearance inside the cage.

Anthony Brennan, Tullamore, impressed in his lightweight novice bout, producing a controlled and tactical performance to earn a win by decision.

Dale Sheridan, Portarlington, delivered one of the standout performances of the event, capturing the bantamweight title after a superb display to bring home championship belt. 

Ronan Deegan, Tullamore, continued his rise in the professional ranks with a dominant win in his catchweight pro bout, securing a first-round rear naked choke finish.

Despite not getting the result on the night, both Jay McCourtney, Daingean, and Ronan Shaughnessy, Galway, put in outstanding performances, narrowly losing by decision after highly competitive contests.

All fighters competed under the guidance of Head Coach Kieran Davern, whose leadership has been central to the club’s continued success. Davern founded Éire Grapple in 2012 during a challenging period in the country’s economic recession, starting with very limited resources.

From those humble beginnings, he has grown the club into one of the largest martial arts gyms in the country. Today, Éire Grapple offers classes for all ages, from children as young as four right through to adults, helping to develop talent at every level.

The results mark another significant step forward for Éire Grapple, highlighting the dedication, preparation, and strong community behind the team.
