Funding secures the future of the fire and emergency services in Clara and district

THE announcement of €3 million in funding for a new fire station headquarters in Clara secures the future of fire and emergency services in the town and the wider region.

The new headquarters is expected to significantly enhance operational capacity in the area and further strengthen emergency response services across Offaly and the surrounding region.

Welcoming the major investment, Tony McCormack TD said the funding represents a vital commitment to public safety and to the long-term future of emergency response services in Offaly.

“This is a hugely important day for Clara and for communities right across the wider region,” Deputy McCormack said.

Deputy McCormack said the new development will provide modern, fit-for-purpose facilities for local firefighters, ensuring they have the resources and infrastructure required to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

“At its heart, this is about real security for families and homes across the region,” he said.

“When people go to bed at night, they want to know that in the event of a fire, flooding incident, road traffic collision or other emergency, there is a strong, well-equipped local fire service ready to respond. This investment gives that reassurance.”

He also welcomed the support of Minister Browne in delivering the funding and acknowledged the sustained efforts of those who have campaigned for the project over many years.

“I want to thank Minister Browne for supporting this vital project. I also want to acknowledge the long-standing work done by Barry Cowen MEP and Cllr Moran, who have worked on this for years and have been steadfast in advocating for Clara.”

“I was proud to work alongside them in making the case for this investment and ensuring Clara’s needs were firmly on the agenda.”
