A MAN has appeared in court in connection with assaulting two Kilkenny hurlers at the end of a senior club quarter-final match at Nowlan Park between Shamrocks Ballyhale and Kilcormac - Killoughey.
Brendan Monaghan, 9 Glendine, Kilcormac pleaded guilty to two counts of assault contrary to section 2 of The Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act and to being intoxicated in a public place and to engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour at Nowlan Park on November 9, 2025.
Solicitor Alexander Rafter told the court on Monday that his client wanted to meet with the Probation Service.
"I think it would be very helpful," said Mr Rafter.
Judge Geraldine Carthy adjourned matters to June 15 for facts, mitigations and victim impact statements (if the injured parties wish to do so).
