Boost for minors as fixtures released for big Offaly football games
Senior footballers learn Tailteann Cup fixture
FIXTURE details have been released for big Offaly football games in the coming few days. The minor footballers have received a boost with a home venue for their big Leinster championship quarter-final against Meath.
That has been fixed for O'Connor Park in Tullamore next Tuesday at 6.30pm. The minor footballers look to represent Offaly's best chance of silverware this year and really impressed in their wins over Longford and Westmeath in their last two games, after an opening group defeat against Dublin.
Their win over Westmeath allowed them to qualify for the quarter-finals as group runners up and the big benefit is that they now have a home game against Meath, who defeated Wicklow in a preliminary quarter-final.
As expected, Offaly senior footballers Tailteann Cup first round game against Clare has been fixed for Saturday, May 9. Offaly hurlers are playing Kilkenny in Tullamore that Sunday and the footballers travel to Ennis the previous day with a 4pm throw in – the losers will have a second chance.
