Olympics and European boxing star Grainne Walsh has lent her support to the Offaly Camino Canal Way Walk in aid of Self Help Africa.

The Tullamore woman joined with organisers Ronan Scully and Laz Molloy and former Offaly senior footballer Mark Plunkett to launch the walk on the Grand Canal in the county town on Wednesday.

The walk takes place on St Patrick's Day and will start at Fiona's Way in Tullamore with participants travelling to Croghan Hill.,

The event kicks off at 8am with prayer at the Fiona Pender Memorial and finises up with Mass on the top of Croghan Hill.

This will be followed by a spectacular  barbecue.

Organisers are looking for people and families to join them and raise much needed funds for Self Help Africa.

“People can join us at any part of the walk and also everyone is welcome to join us at Mass at 1pm on Croghan Hill,” explained Ronan Scully.
