WEATHER IRELAND: Met Eireann issues Weather Warning with heavy rain on the way for large parts of Ireland

Ireland is bracing for a torrent of heavy and thundery rain as Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow Rain Warning for all of Ireland.

Met Eireann is warning that heavy or thundery pulses of rain will hit Ireland on Sunday night and throughout Monday. Met Eireann is warning that this will lead to flooding in places.

The warning is in place from 3am on Monday until 8pm on Monday.

The Met Eireann weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow is as follows.

It will be mostly dry and clear early tonight with a touch of grass frost possible in Ulster as temperatures dip to between 0 and 5 degrees. However, wet and breezy weather will push up from the southwest overnight with freshening southeasterly winds. The rain will turn heavy or thundery in places later with flooding in places expected.

According to Met Eireann, there will be a wet start to Monday with widespread falls of heavy rain and fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds. Outbreaks of rain will continue across most places into the afternoon with further flooding expected.

While a gradual clearance will develop in the southwest and west, heavy showers will follow the rain. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees. Winds will slowly ease though the day before veering westerly and again increasing fresh to strong and gusty over Munster.

Some scattered outbreaks of rain will occur on Monday night, along with mist and fog patches. Where clear skies persist, frost will develop too. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees, in no more than moderate westerly breezes.
