THE Offaly GAA/Bridge House players of the year for 2022 have been announced. They were selected by a panel of local GAA reporters with Shinrone captain Jason Sampson winning the senior hurler of the year and Rhode's Anton Sullivan the senior footballer of the year.
Rhode's Jody Gunning and Lusmagh's Jim Troy will be inducted into the Offaly GAA hall of fame.
The full list of winners are:
Senior football – Anton Sullivan, Rhode;
Senior hurling – Jason Sampson, Shinrone;
Senior B football – Peter Cunningham, Bracknagh;
Senior B hurling – Ger Crowe, Tullamore;
Intermediate football – Stephen Conneely, Ballycommon;
Intermediate hurling – David O'Toole-Greene, Shamrocks;
Junior football – Geordi O'Meara, Ballinagar;
Junior hurling – David Hanlon, Edenderry;
U-20 football – Luke Egan, Tullamore;
U-20 hurler – Alex Kavanagh, Kilcormac-Killoughey;
Football referee – Fergal Smyth, Kilclonfert;
Hurling referee – Shane Guinan, Drumcullen;
Football hall of fame – Jody Gunning (Rhode);
Hurling hall of fame – Jim Troy (Lusmagh);
Ladies football – Roisin Ennis, Naomh Ciaran;
Camogie – Mairead Jennings, Birr;
Handball – David Hope, Fahy.
The awards will be presented in the Bridge House in January and tickets will be available from clubs and Offaly GAA.
