What is the weather forecast for Ireland for Christmas Day?
Anyone dreaming of a white Christmas is set to be disappointed this year according to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Christmas Day.
While Ireland has been through a very cold spell of weather, it looks set to be relatively unsettled for the rest of this week.
According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, the outlook for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are uncertain but at the moment, it looks like Christmas Eve will bring a mix of bright or sunny spells and some showers with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees and moderate to fresh southwest winds.
According to Met Eireann, Christmas Day looks like being cool and bright with a mix of sunshine and showers with moderate westerly winds and highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.
In the run up to Christmas, the weather will remain unsettled with temperatures reaching highs of nine or ten degrees with windy weather forecast at times.
Two Status Yellow Wind Warnings have been issued by Met Eireann.
A Status Yellow Wind warning for Galway and Mayo is currently in place and remains in place until 6am on Wednesday.
A Status Yellow Wind Warning for Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim comes into effect at midnight and remains in place until 6am on Wednesday.
The warnings state that south to southwest winds occasionally reaching mean speeds 50 to 65 km/h, gusts 90 to 100 km/h.
According to Met Eireann, Tuesday will be a blustery or windy day with sunny spells and showers in most areas, many of them heavy with the possibility of hail. Eastern and southeastern coastal areas will be mostly dry. Southwest winds will be fresh to strong and gusty with gales on Atlantic coasts. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Tonight will continue windy with further showers, heaviest and most frequent over Connacht and Ulster with hail and isolated thunderstorms possible. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds.
On Wednesday, showers will continue over Ulster and north Connacht, but it will be mainly dry further south with sunny spells. Towards evening, rain will develop in the southwest and move up over Munster. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with moderate to fresh southwest winds.
Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy with rain over Leinster and Munster and scattered showers further north. The rain will clear eastwards by morning and some patches of mist or fog may develop. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees with light westerly or variable breezes.
Thursday morning will be mainly dry with just a few showers in the north. Through the afternoon and evening, outbreaks of rain will develop in Munster and south Leinster. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with mostly light breezes. Thursday night will be cold and mainly dry over the northern half of the country with frost, fog and lowest temperatures of 0 to 2 degrees. Milder further south with lows of 2 to 6 degrees and some patchy rain or drizzle. Heavier and more persistent rain will push up from the south overnight.

On Friday morning, rain will spread northwards and be persistent over the northern half of the country in the afternoon and evening. It will be heavy at times and may fall as sleet on high ground in Ulster. Brighter weather with showers will follow over the southern half of the country. Highest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees in Ulster and from 6 to 9 degrees further south with moderate to fresh southerly winds.
