Gardaí intercepted the vehicle after it exited the M7 motorway
Gardaí seized vehicles and arrested two drivers in the Moneygall area during the Christmas crackdown on motoring offences.
"Our Christmas enforcement campaign resulted in Tipperary Roads Policing Unit effecting two arrests for drivers under the influence late Christmas Eve into Christmas morning", the Gardaí said.
The first arrest involved a learner driver who was driving unaccompanied. The motorist was stopped for driving offences having exited just exited the M7 motorway.
Gardaí used one of the new Drugwipe detection devices and a positive test result for cannabis was returned. The driver was arrested for suspected drug driving.
The second arrest was made a short time later, where Gardaí detected a motorist over the legal limit for alcohol and following a search a small quantity of cannabis was seized.
Both vehicles were seized and both drivers are facing prosecutions. "Please don’t drive under the influence" the Gardaí said and reminded motorists they will be out in force policing the roads during their Christmas period enforcement campaign.
