The Lorrha Martin O’Meara VC Committee are pictured here after they received their award during the Tipperary County Council awards event held in the Nenagh Council Offices.
LORRHA received three Nenagh Municipal District Awards in the Municipal District offices in Nenagh recently.
Cllr Ger Darcy pointed out during the December meeting of the Council that there was a great response from local communities to the Awards. “It means a lot to the communities,” he remarked. “Lorrha did very well. It got three awards.”
Cllr Michael O'Meara said he was delighted to see Lorrha do so well. “The Martin O'Meara committee,” he pointed out, “was given an award for its recognition of an important international and historical event; The graveyard committee was given an award for making big improvements in the Roman Catholic graveyard; and James Heenan was given an award for the excellent work he does for the area. James is a keen local historian and runs walking tours in the area.”
“The awards night was fantastic,” said Cllr John Carroll. “It's all about people and celebrating their work.
Cllr Phyll Bugler praised Rosemary Joyce of the Executive. “You pulled out all the stops for the Awards night, Rosemary,” she said. “It was a little like the Oscars! It was great to see people awarded who give without asking for anything in return.”
Marcus O'Connor, Director of Services, said the awards are a recognition of the tremendous work being done around the Municipal District. “A lot of hard work and creativity is going on around the MD.”
