REVEALED: Tempers flared during housing debate at Tipperary County Council meeting

Others asked her to take back her comments, but she refused
Tempers flared during a passionate housing debate at the monthly Tipperary County Council meeting.
Sinn Féin Councillor David Dunne pointed out that there are not enough services to help people struggling with addiction who are also trying to get out of homelessness.
Fianna Fáil’s Siobhán Ambrose said the government was not at fault, saying that people had chosen to drink and use drugs. Councillor Liam Browne, Fine Gael’s Mary Hanna Hourigan, and others asked her to take back her comments, but she refused.
Councillor Browne spoke openly about addiction in his own family and said the comments were very wrong.
Mary Hanna Hourigan of Fine Gael stated that individuals do not choose to experience mental health problems.
Councillor Ambrose responded that she had not referenced mental health and maintained her original comments.
