Driver killed in Girvan crash

A 37-year-old man has been killed in a car crash in South Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called to the B7035 Girvan to Dailly Road in Girvan at around 7.30pm on Saturday to an incident involving a green Land Rover Defender.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed the road for almost 12 hours while investigations continued, with the road reopening at around 7.45am on Sunday.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“Our inquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around that time and who may have dashcam footage or who may have seen the car prior to the crash to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101, quoting reference 3483 of July 27 2024.
