Crews fight ‘well-developed fire’ in derelict Glasgow building

Fire crews have been battling a “well-developed fire” in a derelict building.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted on Monday evening after the blaze broke out in Carlton Place in the Gorbals, Glasgow.

The service sent nine appliances to tackle the fire, and confirmed at around 10.40pm that crews were still present.

A spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.04pm on on 5 August to reports of a building fire in Carlton Place in Glasgow.

“At its height, we mobilised seven fire appliances and two high-reach vehicles and firefighters are still working to tackle the well-developed fire on the derelict building.”
