A man has died and a woman is in hospital following a single vehicle road crash in Aberdeenshire.
Police were alerted to an incident involving an Audi A5 driving off the A93 near Dinnet at around 4.40pm on Wednesday.
Emergency services attended and the 66-year-old male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 62-year-old female, who was a passenger in the Audi when it crashed, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Police say staff at the hospital have described the woman’s condition as “serious but stable”.
Sergeant Eoin Maxwell, from the North East Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died.
“We would like to thank the members of the public who assisted at the scene of the crash.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash take place, who has not yet spoken to police, to contact us.”
