Man, 61, dies after falling from canoe in Highlands

A 61-year-old man has died after falling from a canoe into a river in the Highlands.

The man entered the water in the river Oich near Jenkins Park, Fort Augustus, at about 2.40pm on Tuesday.

He was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
