Drugs with street value of more than £1m recovered in raids

Drugs with a potential street value of £1.26 million have been recovered by police in and around Dundee.

Detectives seized cannabis plants from three properties across the region following reports from members of the public.

About 800 plants, worth an estimated £480,000, were discovered at an address on Nobel Road in Dundee on Wednesday August 7.

A day later, a further 300 plants worth about £180,000 were found at a property on the city’s Ledmore Terrace.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with drug offences in relation to the Ledmore Terrace discovery and is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court in due course.

At about 8pm on Thursday August 8, about 1000 plants, worth an estimated £600,000, were discovered within a derelict property on Allen Street in Blairgowrie, Perth and Kinross.

Inquiries into the drug finds in Nobel Road and Blairgowrie remain ongoing.

Detective Sergeant David Feeney said: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and Police Scotland is committed to disrupting the cultivation and sale of illegal substances.

“Officers are removing drugs from communities right across Scotland day in, day out, and information provided by the public is vital in helping us continue to do this.

“I would specifically ask anyone who witnesses any suspicious behaviour in and around buildings that aren’t frequently occupied, such as people coming and going at unusual times, or has concerns regarding drug productions and crime in their area, to report this so we can investigate.”

Anyone with concerns should report them to Police Scotland via 101, or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
