Teenager charged over ‘stolen’ taxi incident

A teenager has been charged after a taxi driver was allegedly robbed of his vehicle at knifepoint.

The incident happened when a blue Skoda taxi was flagged down by two males in Langbar Crescent near Edinburgh Road in Glasgow at around 11.35pm on Thursday August 22.

A knife was allegedly presented and the car taken and later found abandoned after crashing into a tree near St Lukes Avenue in Carluke.

Police said a 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged and will appear in court in due course.

Another vehicle was reported stolen from outside a property in Lanark Road, Carluke, in the early hours of Friday August 23 and found abandoned in Hallhill Road in Barlanark, Glasgow.

Police said the incidents are being treated as linked and appealed for information as investigations continue to trace a second male.
