Two men charged after on-duty police officer injured in collision

Two people have been charged after a police officer was seriously injured in an incident involving a car while on duty.

Police said officers approached the vehicle on Low Waters Road in Hamilton at about 1pm on Friday August 30 in the course of a general patrol.

The vehicle then pulled away and was involved in a collision with one of the officers, a 33-year-old man.

Police said that two men, aged 30 and 56, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They are due to appear before Hamilton Sheriff Court in due course.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The injured officer remains in hospital for treatment.”
