Cannabis worth around £145,000 found during police raid

A cannabis haul with an estimated street value of almost £145,000 has been seized by police.

Officers raided a property in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, and discovered around 38kg of cannabis at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Cash totalling more than £13,000 was also found along with paraphernalia for selling drugs at a property on Carron Street.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Detective Sergeant Vicky Shanley said: “This is a significant recovery and is an example of our efforts to disrupt the trade in illegal drugs in Scotland.

“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“We would continue to urge anyone with information or concerns about drugs activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
