Fire crews fighting mattress blaze at Aberdeen recycling centre

Crews are tackling a fire at a recycling centre in a Scottish city.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was alerted to reports of a blaze at Bucksburn Recycling Centre, Aberdeen, at 6.32pm on Monday.

The service sent seven appliances to the scene where it found a large number of mattresses were on fire.

At 10.14pm, the service said crews were still in attendance and there had been no reported casualties.

An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.32pm on Monday 16 September to reports of a fire in the open at a recycling centre in the Bucksburn area of Aberdeen.

“Operations control mobilised seven fire appliances to the city’s Inverurie Road, where firefighters were met by a fire involving a quantity of mattresses and other materials.

“Firefighters remain at the scene working to extinguish the fire. There are no reported casualties.”
