A man has died following a crash involving a car and a lorry in the early hours of the morning.
The collision happened on the A75 near to Springholm, Castle Douglas, at about 1.15am on Friday.
Police said the 32-year-old man driving the car, a silver Ford Mondeo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 57-year old man driving the lorry, a white Scania HGV, was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary as a precaution.
Police are appealing for information about the crash in Dumfries and Galloway.
Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch.
“Likewise, if you have dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation then make contact with officers.”
The road was closed for investigations following the crash and police said it was likely to remain closed until Friday evening.
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0209 of September 20.
