Three fire appliances in attendance at Fife biomass plant blaze

Fire crews are tackling a blaze at a biomass plant in Fife that has been on fire since Saturday afternoon.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has three appliances at the Markinch Biomass Plant, near Glenrothes, Fife. It said it received the call at 2.14pm on Saturday.

Nobody has been reported injured.

An SFRS spokesperson said: “There is an industry biomass plant on fire near Glenrothes.

“There are currently three appliances in attendance from Glenrothes, Methil and Auchtermuchty.

“There should be no community impact and there are no reported casualties.”

Police Scotland were contacted for comment.
