Police have named a man who died following a crash involving a car and a lorry in the early hours of the morning on September 20.

The collision happened on the A75 near to Springholm, Castle Douglas, at about 1.15am on Friday.

Ross Wood, 32, who was driving the car, a silver Ford Mondeo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 57-year old man driving the lorry, a white Scania HGV, was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

Police Scotland said inquiries into the crash in Dumfries and Galloway continue.

Sergeant Neil Moffat said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Wood at this very difficult time.

“We continue to appeal to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch. Likewise, if you have dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation then contact officers.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0209 of 20 September.
