Appeal for driver who may have witnessed collision that injured pedestrian

Police investigating a collision which left a 71-year-old woman with serious injuries are hoping another driver in the area at the time could help them.

The pedestrian was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness after being struck by a car in the city’s Thornbush Road at about 5.20pm on Friday.

An 18-year-old who was driving a red Mazda 3 car has been arrested in connection with an alleged road traffic offence.

Police Scotland said inquiries are ongoing.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay, of the force’s Highland & Islands road policing unit, said officers were seeking to “establish the full circumstances which led to this collision”.

He added: “We would be particularly keen to speak to a potential witness who was the driver of an unidentified silver or grey saloon-style car which passed shortly before the incident happened, or to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.”
