Man charged over fatal collision in East Renfrewshire in May

A man has been charged following the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a car.

The collision, which involved a Mercedes GLE, happened on Stamperland Crescent near Clarkston in East Renfrewshire at about 5.20pm on Friday May 17.

The pedestrian, an 86-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.

He died in hospital on Thursday May 23. No-one else was injured.

Police said that a 55-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal and he is expected to appear in court in due course.
