Fire crews continue to tackle a “well-developed” blaze at a derelict hospital in Dumfries and Galloway, but have scaled back the number of appliances.
At around 8.30pm on Wednesday, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it had a number of appliances at the former Nitsbank Hospital in Dumfries.
Officials said they received a call shortly before 4.30pm on Wednesday and that crews were still present at about 8.30pm, with firefighters expected to remain there “for some time”.
An SFRS spokesperson previously said: “We were alerted at 4.26pm on Wednesday October 9 to reports of a well-developed fire within the ground floor of the former Nitsbank Hospital in Dumfries and Galloway.”
They added: “There are currently no reported casualties and crews will remain in attendance for some time.”
At its height, operations control had mobilised seven appliances to the scene, but by 10.40pm, they had scaled back to just one appliance.
A spokesperson said: “We are still in attendance. We have scaled back to one appliance.”
