At around 8.35pm on Wednesday, police were called to a property on Gordon Place, Ellon, where Martin Forgie was found dead.

Mr Forgie, from Maud, was remembered by his family in a statement released through Police Scotland.

They said: “Martin was a much loved son, brother, father, nephew, grandson and uncle. He will be greatly missed.

“We ask for our privacy as a family to be respected at this difficult time.”

The 44-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death.

Inquiries are ongoing.

Detective inspector Rory Campbell, of Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Forgie’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“Officers will remain in the area while inquiries are carried out.
