Man charged over death of ‘much-loved’ father

A 44-year-old who was arrested following the death of a “much-loved” man has now been charged, police have said.

Police were called to a property in Gordon Place, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, at around 8.35pm on Wednesday when Martin Forgie, 36, was found dead.

The man, 44, was arrested in connection with the death, and on Friday Police Scotland said he has been charged.

He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.

Mr Forgie’s relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

Mr Forgie, from Maud, Aberdeenshire, was remembered by his family in a statement released through Police Scotland.

They said: “Martin was a much-loved son, brother, father, nephew, grandson and uncle. He will be greatly missed.

“We ask for our privacy as a family to be respected at this difficult time.”

Detective Inspector Rory Campbell previously said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Forgie’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“Officers will remain in the area while inquiries are carried out.

“Anyone with information can speak to them, call 101 quoting reference 3400 of October 9, or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
