A 23-year-old man has died in a crash involving a car and a lorry near Lockerbie.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after the BMW 1 series car he was driving was involved in a crash with an articulated lorry on the B7076, near the junction with the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road.
Police said they were called to the incident at about 11.55pm on Tuesday and attended the scene along with ambulance services.
The lorry driver, a 65-year-old man, did not require hospital treatment.
Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “We are providing support to the family of the man who died as our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash.
“We would appeal to anyone who was driving on the B7076 around the time of the crash, who either witnessed it take place or who has any information that may assist. Any driver with dashcam footage is asked to please contact us as soon as possible.
“We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a red car travelling southbound on the B7076 prior to the crash who may be able to assist with our investigation.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 4261 of October 29.”
