Police and public transport vehicles hit with bricks and fireworks in Edinburgh

Officers are responding to firework-related incidents in the Scottish capital.

On Thursday at around 10pm, Police Scotland said a number of people had targeted its vehicles, as well as public transport vehicles, with fireworks and other projectiles, including bricks, at Hay Avenue, Edinburgh.

The force has placed a road closure at the junction at Niddrie Mains Road and Duddingston Park South, and at the junction of Niddrie Mains Road and Greendykes Road.

Police Scotland said on its website that people should avoid the area and local officers and public order staff are in the area to bring the situation under control.
