Police make eight arrests as part of ‘organised crime’ investigation

Eight people have been arrested in connection with alleged serious and organised crime offences after police executed search warrants in the west of Scotland.

The arrests came as part of Operation Silhouette, an ongoing investigation which began 18 months ago and is led by the Serious and Organised Crime Unit.

So far the operation has seen 36 people arrested, including the eight on Friday, while around £1.5 million in cash, and controlled drugs with an estimated street value of £6 million have been seized.

On Friday November 29 police executed 13 warrants across four police divisions, going to addresses in Glasgow, Cambuslang, Gartcosh, Barrhead, Renfrew and Saltcoats, and made eight arrests.

Six men, aged 37, 32, 30, 28, 29 and 28, have been charged in connection with alleged involvement in serious and organised crime and will appear in court in due course.

A 29-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were released pending further inquiries.
