Boy, 14, charged and ‘imitation firearm’ seized after park incident

A 14-year-old boy has been charged and an “imitation firearm” seized following reports of a person with a weapon in Falkirk.

Police received reports of a man “acting suspiciously” at Callendar Park at around 11am on Friday.

Pupils and staff at Graeme High were told not to leave the premises as police investigated the incident.

Callendar House in the park’s grounds was also closed to the public but has since reopened and school pupils and staff have been advised they can leave the school safely.

Police Scotland said later on Friday that a 14-year-old youth had been charged in connection with the incident.

The force said a report with be sent “to the relevant authority”.
