A pedestrian has died in a collision with a car in Aberdeenshire.

The incident involving a blue Ford Fiesta and the 76-year-old man happened on the A96 Huntly to Inverurie road near Colpy at around 7.15am on Friday.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 26-year-old woman, was uninjured.

Sergeant Sarah Ritchie of Police Scotland’s north east road policing unit, said: “My thoughts are with the family of the man who died and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“I would like to thank the members of the public that stopped and assisted at the scene.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0517 of February 21.”
