Premises damaged in deliberate fire at Inverness business park

Police are appealing for witnesses after a deliberate fire caused “extensive damage” to businesses in Inverness.

The blaze at Fairways Business Park was started shortly before midnight on Saturday March 8, when police say a dark grey Skoda Octavia was deliberately reversed into the units before being set alight.

A man wearing a balaclava was seen running from the fire towards Walter Scott Road immediately after the incident.

The fire caused extensive damage to several business units before being put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and the area remains closed to the public.

Police confirmed nobody was injured in the incident.

Officers are continuing to carry out house-to-house inquiries, as well as reviewing relevant CCTV from in and around the area.

Detective Inspector Caroline MacKay said: “We are very keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the Druid Temple area between 11.30pm and midnight on Saturday evening who may have seen the Skoda or any other vehicles or people acting suspiciously around that time.

“In particular, I would ask any road users there who have dashcam or recording equipment to check their footage.

“There may be images which could prove vital to our investigation.

“If you saw anything, or anyone, acting suspiciously then please do get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0032 of March 9, or to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
