Man charged with attempted murder after collision involving police officer

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a collision involving a vehicle and a police officer.

The incident happened at around 3.55pm on Tuesday on High Street in Haddington, East Lothian.

The male police officer was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment and later released.

Andrew Yorkston, 34, was charged with attempted murder and a number of road traffic offences when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.

He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody.
