Boy, 15, stabbed in targeted attack, police believe

A 15-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a stabbing which police believe was a targeted attack.

He was found injured in the Denbeck Street area of Shettleston in Glasgow at about 10.30pm on Thursday and was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

Officers said inquiries so far have established four individuals, all dressed in dark clothing, were seen leaving the area and heading towards Shettleston Road and then on to Wellshot Road.

Police are appealing for information about the incident.

Detective Inspector Lesley-Ann McGee, from Shettleston CID, said: “This was a violent attack that left a teenage boy with serious injuries, and we are doing everything we can to trace those responsible.

“I would urge anyone who saw what happened or noticed anything suspicious in the area to get in touch with police as soon as possible.

“We’re also keen to speak to anyone who may have private CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from Denbeck Street, Shettleston Road, Wellshot Road or the surrounding areas on Thursday night.

“Any information, no matter how small, could help us as we continue our inquiries.”

Officers said there will be an additional police presence in the area over the coming days.

Local area commander Chief Inspector Ross Aitken said: “We recognise that this incident will be concerning to the local community.

“At this time, we believe it was a targeted attack and there is no information to suggest any wider risk to the public.

“There will be additional patrols in the area over the coming days to provide reassurance and support the ongoing inquiry.

“I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 3927 of May 29.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.26pm on Thursday to attend an incident on Denbeck Street in Glasgow.

“We dispatched one ambulance and our trauma team to the scene.

“We transported one male teenage patient to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
