Police appeal for witnesses after driver dies in single-car crash in Whitburn

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly driver died in a single-car crash.

A 71-year-old man who was the driver of a Volvo XC90 died at the scene.

Police were alerted just before 6pm on Friday and emergency services rushed to Blaeberryhill Road, Whitburn, West Lothian.

A 74-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car was taken to hospital to be checked over.

Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and our enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash who hasn’t already spoken to officers to please get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage which could assist to contact us.”
