A body has been found in the search for a teenage boy who went missing while paddleboarding in a Fife loch.

Emergency services were called to Loch Ore, in Loch Ore Meadows, Lochgelly, at about 5.25pm on Saturday.

Police said they had received a “report of concern” for the boy, 15, who had been out paddleboarding.

A search for the missing teenager was launched, and a coastguard helicopter was deployed alongside coastguard rescue teams from St Andrews, Queensferry and Leven.

Police confirmed that at about 1.20pm on Sunday the body of a male youth was recovered from the water.

They said formal identification is yet to take place, but that the family of the missing teenager have been informed.

Police added that there are not thought be any suspicious circumstances, and that a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
