Three teenagers have been taken to hospital, one with “life-threatening injuries”, after the car they were in crashed on a motorway near Glasgow.
The grey Volkswagen Polo crashed at about 12.10am on the M77 northbound near junction five, south of Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire.
Emergency services attended and the driver, a 19-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with what are described as “life-threatening injuries”.
Two passengers, a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old man, were both taken to the same hospital for treatment.
The road was closed for about nine hours following the incident, and reopened at about 9.20am.
Sergeant Jim Dewar said: “Our inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with information that could assist to get in touch.
“If you were driving in the area at the time, please check dashcam footage to see if you have captured anything that may help with our investigation.”
Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0034 of July 23.
