Police following ‘positive line of inquiry’ into murder of man in Lanarkshire

Police have said they are following a “positive line of inquiry” into the death of a man found in South Lanarkshire last week.

Officers launched a murder probe after Scott Boyd, 30, was found in the Braeside Crescent area of Kirkmuirhill at around 4.45am on Wednesday August 27.

A 35-year-old man was also found at the scene and was taken to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment but has since been released.

Detective Chief Inspector Bob Williamson, from the Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Boyd at this very difficult time. We are continuing to provide them with support as our investigation continues.

“Extensive inquiries are being carried out by officers and specialist resources, and we are now following a positive line of inquiry.

“We would like to thank the public in the local community who have supported our investigation so far.”

Local area commander Chief Inspector Sarah McArthur said: “We will remain in the area while investigations are continuing, and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.”
