Man charged after Hearts player hit by lighter during game

A man has been charged after a Hearts player was allegedly assaulted during a match.

Police launched an investigation after the player was hit by a lighter thrown from the stands at Tannadice Stadium in Dundee on Sunday August 10.

The player was not injured in the incident.

Hearts won the game against Dundee United 3-2.

Police said a 23-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He has been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
