Man dies after incident at packaging facility

A man has died after he was injured in an incident at a packaging facility.

Emergency services were called to a report of an injured man at Pitreavie Packaging Manufacturing facility in Cumbernauld at around 12.20am on Tuesday.

Police Scotland said that a 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene in the Grayshill Road area.

The force said that inquiries to establish the full circumstances are under way and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.

The Pitreavie Group said it is also investigating following the incident in North Lanarkshire.

A Pitreavie Group spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of our colleague at this very sad time.

“There is a full investigation under way into the circumstances of the incident.”
