A man has died and a woman is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash in a town in the Borders.
The single-car crash happened on Whitehaugh Park in Peebles at around 6.25pm on Thursday.
The 80-year-old woman and 87-year-old man in the car, a Honda HRV, were taken to hospital.
Police said the man later died and the woman remains in a serious condition.
Officers are appealing for information about the crash.
Sergeant Philip Winning said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and the woman injured in this collision.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened and I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or has any information, to please contact police.
“I’d also ask drivers with dash-cam footage of the area around the time to review this for anything which may assist our enquiries.”
The road was closed for several hours for collision investigations following the incident.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 3057 of November 6.
