Harmful substance thrown at woman ‘in targeted incident’, police say

A woman has been hit with a “harmful substance” during what police believe was a targeted attack in South Lanarkshire, police said.

The incident happened to a 30-year-old woman on Pine Crescent in East Kilbride at around 10.55am on Friday.

Police Scotland said “extensive inquiries” are under way in the area and urged anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “We received a report of a harmful substance being thrown at a woman on Pine Crescent, East Kilbride, around 10.55am on Friday November 7.

“Emergency services attended and the 30-year-old was checked at the scene.

“Officers believe this was a targeted incident and extensive inquiries are ongoing in the area.

“Anyone with any information or concerns can approach these officers, or call 101 and quote reference number 1082 of November 7.”
