Pupils on their way home from school on Friday afternoon had to be evacuated from the school bus they were travelling on after it caught fire.
West Lothian Council confirmed nobody was injured in the incident, which happened on Blackness Road in the Springfield area of the town at about 12.50pm.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said two fire engines were dispatched to the scene following reports of smoke coming from the vehicle.
They left the scene at about 2.10pm once the fire had been extinguished.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We are aware of a school bus fire earlier today in the Springfield area of Linlithgow.
“This was a Linlithgow Academy school bus which was taking pupils home.
“Emergency services attended and we understand the situation has been dealt with.
“Our school transport team are liaising with the bus provider.
“We have been advised that there were no injuries, thankfully, and all pupils disembarked very quickly.
“All pupils were picked up in another vehicle.
“The incident took place on Blackness Road, opposite the entrance Springfield Road.
“The road has now reopened.”
An SFRS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12.49 this afternoon advising there was smoke coming from the bus.
“We mobilised two appliance to the scene and they extinguished the fire.
“No casualties were reported.”
