A rapist is being sought by police after launching a “horrendous” attack on a woman in a park.
The woman was attacked in Brodie Park, Paisley, Renfrewshire, at about 4.30am on Sunday.
The man is described as white, in his early 20s and with a local accent. He was wearing dark grey clothing.
Police said patrols would be stepped up in the area and that the woman had been “seriously sexually assaulted”.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The woman did not require hospital treatment but was left extremely frightened.”
Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie, Inverclyde CID, said: “This was a horrendous ordeal for the woman and we are doing everything we can to trace the man responsible.
“Extensive inquiries are ongoing and there will be an increased police presence in the area and visible patrols in the park this week.
“I would urge anyone with information or concerns to please approach these officers.
“I would also ask anyone with dashcam footage or private CCTV from around the area to please check if you have captured anything that could be useful to our investigation.”
Information can be given by calling 101, quoting reference number 0717 of Sunday November 16.
