A funeral will be held for an Aberdeen man living in Australia who died in a surfing accident.
Calum McCombie, 36, died on October 22 after his surfboard broke off the coast of Frankston Beach, Victoria, amid high winds.
His friend, named by Mr McCombie’s relatives as Nicho, attempted to save him, but also died.
The funeral is due to be held on November 24 at Baldarroch Crematorium, Crathes, Aberdeenshire.
Mr McCombie was remembered by his family for his keen interest in skateboarding and had more recently taken up surfing around two years ago.
As an animal lover, a Crowdfunder page was set up by his relatives to raise money for Cats Protection and for the local rescue services in Frankston.
A tribute from his family on the page says: “Calum was a beautiful person, everyone who was lucky enough to meet Calum loved him.
“We are only having family flowers at his funeral, but have set up this page to raise money for the Rescue Services in Frankston, who did everything they could to try to rescue both Calum and his friend Nicho.
“Calum loved animals and as family we have always had cats so we will also be supporting a local branch of Cats Protection.
“We are heartbroken that our son has gone too soon, he will be sorely missed by us all.”
