A Midlothian school was locked down after reports of a man carrying a knife in the area.
Pupils at King’s Park Primary School, Dalkeith, were forced to stay indoors during part of the school day on Friday as a precaution, following reports of the blade-wielding man in the Eskbank Road area.
By lunchtime, the lockdown had been lifted and pupils were able to go about the remainder of their day as normal.
A Midlothian Council spokesperson said: “Parents and carers of King’s Park pupils in Dalkeith were contacted regarding an ongoing police incident in the wider community this morning.
“On Police Scotland advice, as a precautionary measure, pupils were kept indoors during the school break but were able to go home at lunchtime at the end of the school day as normal.”
Officers are still on the lookout for the man and inquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.10am on Friday 21 November 2025, we received a report of a man in possession of a knife in the Eskbank Road area of Dalkeith.
“Officers are searching the area in an effort to trace the man and are following a positive line of enquiry.”
