New appeal issued in search for man whose car was found in Highlands

Police have issued a fresh appeal for information about a man reported missing four weeks ago whose car was found in a remote area of the Highlands.

Eugen Comanescu, 41, was last seen at a service station on the M74 in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, at around 8.20pm on Monday November 3.

His car – a silver Vauxhall Corsa – was found in a remote area between Pitagowan and Dalwhinnie in the Highlands at about 10pm on Friday November 7.

Police said a dedicated team of officers have been carrying out extensive inquiries in the area, including reviewing more than 100 hours of CCTV.

Specialist resources including police dogs, helicopters and partner agencies have also been involved in the search.

Inspector Stephen Gray said: “One month on, there have been no new confirmed sightings of Eugen, but we are doing all we can to find him.

“We are continuing to carry out inquiries in the area and I would ask that if anyone has seen Eugen or someone matching his description, please contact police.

“I would urge the public to come forward with any information they may have. No matter how small it may seem, it may be key to helping us find Eugen.”

Mr Comanescu is described as around 5ft 7ins, of medium build with short dark, blonde hair. It is believed he may be in possession of a dark grey jacket.

He was wearing dark-coloured trousers, a blue jumper and dark shoes, although police said his appearance may have changed given the length of time that he has been missing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 3193 of November 3.
