Two taken to hospital after fire in city centre flat

Two men have been taken to hospital following a blaze at a flat in the centre of Edinburgh.

Firefighters were called to the scene in the Grassmarket at 10.28am on Thursday and the blaze was extinguished shortly afterwards.

The Grassmarket was closed for a time while emergency services dealt with the incident, but later reopened.

Police Scotland said that two men were taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers said the blaze is not being treated as suspicious.
